PREFACE – THE BIG IDEA
In 2007, I became captivated by a show called "The Big Idea," which revolved around the concept that recognizing a problem and finding a solution to it could potentially lead to great success, even millions. Known for my knack for creative problem-solving, I watched with keen interest.
As an overweight, middle-aged, single woman, I had an epiphany that would lead to an innovation I am eager to share with you—SafeCheck.
Safecheck is designed to bring peace of mind to both seniors living alone and their families or caregivers. This app sends out regular check-in messages, the frequency of which can be customized to be daily, weekly, or monthly.
If the senior does not respond to the check-in message by the end of the day, another reminder is sent the following day. If there is still no response, the app sends an alert to a designated contact—be it a family member, friend, or caregiver—who can then check in on the person or call for a welfare check if necessary.
This ensures the health and safety of the senior while allowing them to maintain their independence.
Loneliness can be as deadly as smoking or obesity, according to a study published in the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science. Senior isolation may complicate existing conditions, encourage an unhealthy lifestyle, and affect cognition.
We’d love to help you or a loved one stay connected. Send us a message and we will get back to you soon.
